If you buy yarns that are not already in skeins, they need to be wound up and that's where the Large Yarn winder in White/Red comes in. With it, you can easily wind the yarn into skeins that are easier to handle when you knit or crochet with them later. If you've tried winding it by hand, you know how much time and effort it takes. With the Large Yarn Cross Winder in White/Red, it's a breeze. Yarn skeins wound up by a yarn winder are also called a (yarn) cake. The advantage here is that you can pull the yarn off from the middle and outside of the yarn skein. This allows you to choose your favourite or use two ends at the same time.
The yarn winder needs to be mounted on a table. English instructions are included. When mounted, the device measures approximately 26.5 cm in height, 25 cm in width and 34 in length. It is made of plastic and metal. The plastic parts are coloured white, red and beige.
The cross wrench apparatus is easy to assemble and use. The handle is easily attached to your table top. Be careful not to tighten the clamp too hard on the table edge. The yarn winder can be clamped on any thickness of worktop, up to 6 cm thick.
So if you have a lot of yarn to wind or rewind, this is the partner for you - much faster and more cooperative than your husband or children.
Assemble your yarn winder quickly and easily
The first time you use the yarn winder or after it has been packed away, you need to assemble the device. It's quite simple. In the pack you will find the yarn winder itself, the spindle around which the yarn is wound and a number of metal items. The two identical metal arms screw onto the beige plastic part under the shaft. Screws and a small umbraco key are included. The spindle is attached to the rotating shaft by pressing it down onto the shaft and turning the spindle itself clockwise until it is firmly seated. The metal rail is screwed under the front of the unit. At the end of the metal rail, the ýarn eye is screwed on using the small nut.
Next, mount the yarn winder on the table top with the clamp, which is screwed until the yarn winder is firmly seated on the table.
Now you are ready to wind yarn on the yarn winder.
Use the yarn winder to make practical yarn cakes
You get out your yarn and take one end of the yarn. Now wrap it around the yarn eye on the metal rod. Next, you attach the yarn to the top of the spindle itself, i.e. through the two small slits so that the yarn is held on the spindle itself. Now wrap the yarn clockwise around the spindle. Hold the yarn from the yarn eye slightly taut while turning the handle clockwise on the crossing device itself with your other hand. Continue until the skein is the desired size.
